How’s the January diet going? By this time of the month, things can often start to unravel, so I’m offering a little bonus episode to help you get things back on track.
This time last year, I chatted to the brilliant Petronella Ravenshear about metabolism, menopause and sustainable weight loss. Petronella is a nutritionist and author of the excellent Human Being Diet, which is an incredibly effective approach to managing your weight, while eating good food and – dare I say it? – actually enjoying the process!
If you haven’t listened to that episode, I’d highly recommend that you check it out – you can find it in Season 6, Episode 11.
But weight loss is such a big topic that I couldn’t resist recording this additional conversation with Petronella, to give anyone who’s struggling this January some extra support tools.
In this episode, we explore:
- The 3 most common mistakes women make when trying to lose weight
- Petronella’s top 3 tips for achieving sustainable weight loss
Petronella’s advice is practical, insightful, and truly inspiring – I could chat with her all day! I hope this episode gives you the confidence to take the first steps toward lasting, positive change.

Biography
Nutritionist to the UK’s movie star, fashion and celebrity set, Petronella Ravenshear combined twenty years of clinical experience and scientific research into her first book, The Human Being Diet (HBD). Initially published in 2018, the second edition was fully updated and republished in 2024.
HBD is a distillation of Petronella’s years of work and experience as a registered nutritional therapist in London. She earned a glittering reputation as one of the UK’s best known and loved practitioners – famed for her scientific approach to alleviating clients’ chronic weight, digestive, metabolic, and skin problems. She paired practical evidence-based advice with psycho-neuro-immunology, which is the science of the mind/body connection. The combination has been wildly successful, as demonstrated by the myriad testimonials from her readers and clients.
In 2023 she relocated to Palm Beach Florida, where she continues to write. Petronella has been featured on TV and podcasts in the US, and has been written about in the UK press, including The Times and Sunday Times, Daily Mail, Tatler, Vogue, and the Telegraph. She was a columnist for the Sunday Telegraph Magazine’s Day on a Plate, and has written for numerous magazines and newspapers, including British Vogue.
If you've listened to my podcast(s) I'd love to hear what you think.
